Authentic and Conscious Living

MY PERSONAL JOURNEY TO SELF

I spent a lot of time trying to discover a purposeful life and it always seemed just beyond my reach. As far back as I can remember life - and the rules as I was taught - did not make sense.

Ever catch yourself wondering..
"What is this all about?"
"Is this all there is?"
"Why do I feel so disconnected?"
"I should be happy yet I feel so empty inside."

These are not new questions. Nor are the answers easy. Thinkers and philosophers from before the age of the ancient Greeks have wrestled with these issues. Today, the struggle goes on for millions of people every day in every corner of the world.

Although hundreds of millions of people are caught up in the fight for day-to-day survival they don’t feel have the luxury of pondering the larger questions of life. In the Pavlovian hierarchy of needs, nothing in terms of philosophical fulfillment can be addressed until people feel the more fundamental questions of safety, security and sustenance are answered. This is still the condition of so many throughout the world today. Therefore, it is believed this necessity is restricted to a closer examination of the hearts and minds of those who have the luxury of a roof and a reliable meal. Fortunately, this is not truth. Authentic and conscious living can be a reality for all.

The overwhelming question for many is “Who am I and what kind of life am I supposed to be living?”

Through much research, introspection, soul searching, studying and self-evaluation, I believe I have the key to an answer. At least an answer that works for me.

Our lives need to be lived in accordance with our authentic spiritual nature.

But who am I authentically? As I searched for the answer, I realized I had to go back to the late spring of 1997. That is where my own journey started.
